Bolton Wanderers 1-1 Southend United - Man of the Match: Keshi Anderson

The new guy impresses this old guy

Well that was a wet and wonderful afternoon. Bolton Wanderers hammered Southend United, but couldn't find that all-important winner.

In a game full of drama and incident, Wanderers knocked and knocked on the door but each time fell foul of poor finishing, good defending and downright bizarre refereeing.

Wanderers had a few candidates for MOTM.

Jay Spearing was excellent....again. In fact it was only that he has won this award already - and no doubt will again going forward led me elsewhere.

Mark Beevers was a rock. His defensive partner David Wheater less so.

I've chosen the on-loan Crystal Palace striker Keshi Anderson, instead.

Though slight in stature, Anderson was really strong against a tough and experienced Southend backline. Possessing frightening pace and a lovely touch, I was really impressed by his performance.

I'll have to see the goal again to decide whether it was his, or whether it belongs to the goalkeeper, but Anderson deserves praise for being where it counts, when it counted the most.

Though he tired somewhat, and this is to be expected, he was a standout performer and gave us great hope for the remainder of the season.

Long may it continue.
