Welcome to the first in a week-long series in which I put my positive hat on and say something nice about someone who I perhaps haven't been that nice about in the past.

New year, new me, and all that guff.

So, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Episode 1 - Gary Madine.

Gary Madine has been at Bolton Wanderers now since June 2015 and his performances have often evoked memories of the great former striker of ours, Kevin Davies.

Blessed with movie star looks and a man who leaps like a salmon, wor Gary has the support of a large number of Wanderers fans and, more importantly, Marnie from Geordie Shore.

Being one of the best aerial target men in the bottom two divisions, Madine arrived at the club with lots to prove, and has done his best to counteract any preconceptions that we all might have had about him.

The goals may not have flowed in the way that he would've liked, but he fell out with Neil Lennon - publicly - and that makes him OK in my book.

So, Gary - thanks.
