Bolton's summer departures; where are they now? Part 1

Have last summers released players been regrettable loses or should we thank the gods they're gone?

With the winter window still as quiet as expected, let's fill some time by having a look at how the players that left last summer fared. Have they been a hit or a miss? Let's start with the g and defence.

Goalkeepers.

Paul Rachubka: Joined Bury on a one year deal. Has played one game whilst conceding two goals. The perennial backup. MISS

Ross Fitzsimons: A Dougie Freedman prospect says it all. No appearances for Bolton and now playing for Chelmsford City in the National League South. MISS

Harry Campbell: Joined Championship Burton Albion but has made no appearances. Still early days for the youngster to be fair but... MISS

Defenders.

Rob Holding: the boy wonder was sold to Arsenal for around £2M and then had the temerity to rip up trees, earning our club a number of add-on payments in the process. Every chance of this classy defender following in Cahills footsteps. HIT, of course.

Francesco Pisano: Brought in by Lennon to solve the problem RB position but ended up being another problem. Now back home in Italy playing for ASD Olbia 1905. Nope me neither. MISS

Hayden White: My main memory of him was constantly getting sent off whilst out on loan. Signed a decent 2 year deal with Peterborough but after just 6 appearances is now on loan again with League Two Mansfield until season end. MISS

Niall Maher: Allegedly was going to be kept on by the club until it was decided that other player priorities were to take precedence. Turned out to be a good decision by the club. Since joining Bury, Niall has made 14 appearances and had a nightmare. Own goals, conceding penalties (one against Clough), sent off and part of Bury's 20 game winless run until dropped. MISS

Oscar Threlkeld: Scorer of 'that goal' when on loan at Plymouth, he joined them permanently in the summer. Highly rated by the Bolton coaches and another who was expected to stay on at our club. A la Maher, he didn't. Oscar is going down a storm in the West Country and a League Two nominee for December POTM. 15 league appearances and 2 goals so far. HIT

Quade Taylor: Another Freedman prospect signing taken from Palace. Distinctive for his lamb chop sideburns, his career went full circle; Dulwich Hamlet, Palace, Bolton and back to Dulwich in the Isthmian League, a team that play in pink! Still only 23. MISS

Alex Finney: Another bloody Freedman prospect signing. Astonishingly joined QPR on a 6 month youth contract last October. No appearances for them of course and I don't think he even has a squad number. MISS

Filip Twardzik: Lennon signing from Celtic famed for his gorgeous model missus and not much else. Currently a free agent. MISS

Tyler Garrett; Highly rated youngster who seemed to be the answer to our left back prayers. Until he turned down a contract and signed for League 2 Doncaster that is. Made 5 appearances before being loaned out to Eastleigh. Ha that'll teach him. MISS

Part 2 tomorrow covers the midfielders and strikers A sorry tale indeed.
