TRANSFER GOSSIP: If Peter Odemwingie is the Answer, Then What is the Question?

Wanderers set to sign 35 year old gold shy mercenary

After fanning the flames of a dual return for Adam Le Fondre and Newcastle's Sammy Ameobi, everybody's favourite Twitter agent and club employee looks to have found the solution to Bolton Wanderers' attacking woes.

Peter Odemwingie, whose contract at Rotherham expired this month, was present as Wanderers lost successive home games in the league for the first time this season.

Odemwingie, who is 35 and last went into double figures within a season in 2011-12 for West Bromwich Albion, is a free agent. He made six appearances for Rotherham this season without scoring a goal.

His time in Yorkshire became newsworthy when he was sent off for a nasty elbow against Leeds, and then took to Twitter to apologise to fans before the game had even ended. Odemwingie also made headlines recently for claiming that fans lack loyalty to playing staff, which is rich coming from the man who drove to Queens Park Rangers on deadline day in January 2013.

Peter Odemwingie has scored 8 goals in the last 4 years in spells at Stoke City, Cardiff City, Bristol City and Rotherham. He is 35. He's crap. He's not Adam Le Fondre. And he's soon to be a Bolton Wanderers player.

Recent results mean Wanderers need to re-ignite their season. This man isn't the one to do it. However, he was born in the former Soviet Union, so knows hardship, decaying infrastructure and how to survive a life without money. He might fit right in.

Wanderers are falling from the title race, and fast. A mercenary with a worse goal record than Gary Madine isn't going to change that. As I said in my previous article, hinting your transfer business on social media could lead to disappointment.

Peter Odemwingie is a disappointment of such a scale even Bolton Wanderers fans are disappointed.

Now that's disappointment.

Oh, Keshi Anderson scored a hat trick for Northampton today as well. Connor Wilkinson, Gary Madine, Jamie Procter, Zach Clough and Max Clayton did not. I hate the month of January.
