Sammy Ameobi is a curious orange.
More limb than man, he has no right to be a professional footballer of real quality.
However, against Sheffield Wednesday earlier he was by far our best player.
I was really impressed with how good he was tracking back, as well as being our best and most creative attacking outlet.
His goal may well have come from a defensive mistake, but as far as Bolton Wanderers fans are concerned, we couldn’t give a monkeys.
Ameobi has been a big miss this season and if he can carry on the sort of first-half form that he showed this afternoon then he will be a huge part of our season whether we manage to escape relegation or not.
I considered being contrary and giving the award to the excellent Barry Bannan, who was probably the best player on the pitch, but we won, and this is our moment to celebrate.
Yes we may still be firmly bottom of the league, but Sammy was a key part of the most coherent and hard-working Wanderers side of the season, and for that he deserves the prize.
Well done Sammy. Same again next week, please.
