Transfer Gossip: Bolton Wanderers set price wanted for Josh Vela

The latest pre January rumour

According to reports from today’s The Sun, Bolton Wanderers have slapped a price tag of £3.5 million on Josh Vela.

The snippet from the paper states:

“Bolton want £3.5 million for midfield dynamo Josh Vela, 24, a target for Derby. The high fee will help fund the club for the season, with owner Ken Anderson having a big loan to repay next year.”

That doesn’t sound good.

Obviously, it’s all gossip until an actual bid comes in for Vela. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Like I’ve put on all these Vela rumours, losing Josh Vela would be a huge blow to Wanderers. Vela, alongside players like Sammy Ameobi and Karl Henry, have helped turn around Wanderers’ poor form at the start of the season.

Vela also got his first goal of the season yesterday in the 2-0 win against Cardiff City.

Obviously, Wanderers don’t have millions to spend on new players in January, so the club have had to sell other key players to help run the club.

Rob Holding and Zach Clough have previously been sold to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest respectively for figures in the region of £2 to £3 million.

Let’s hope this is nothing more than gossip and Wanderers can keep hold of Vela.

Is £3.5 million enough for one of our key players? Let us know in the comments box below.
