Bolton Wanderers head to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United for their last game of 2017. The Blades, who were promoted alongside Wanderers last season, currently occupy 6th place, above the likes of Middlesbrough and Aston Villa.
Sheffield have enjoyed a successful return to The Championship thanks to the sides’ surprising top goalscorer, Leon Clarke. Clarke has so far scored 14 goals this season, more than any other player in the league.
Chris Wilder’s side have already beaten Wanderers this season back in September, when a goal from Cameron Carter-Vickers sealed a 1-0 win for The Blades at The Macron.
Wanderers haven’t won away in The Championship in their last 37 games, and will hope to end that unwanted record to boost their survival chances. A win for Bolton could see them go level on points with Barnsley in 20th place.
Team News
Sammy Ameobi, Will Buckley and Craig Noone all face late fitness tests, whilst Andrew Taylor could be a doubt after going off injured on Boxing Day. Adam Le Fondre could return to the bench, although I highly doubt that.
For Sheffield United, John Fleck will be be available for selection again after missing the last three games through suspension.
Form
Sheffield United - LDLLDW
Bolton Wanderers - LWLLWL
Odds
Of course, the hosts are odds on favourites at 3/5. An unlikely Wanderers win is 9/2, whilst a draw has odds of 3/1.
Match Prediction
I think Bolton will have to wait for their first away win of the season, sadly. I’ll go with a 2-1 home win.
