As reported by The Belfast Telegraph, a Bolton Wanderers scout was present during Glenavon's 2-0 win at Ards on Saturday. The player the scout was watching? That would be 20 year old Mark Sykes.
The Belfast Telegraph stated:
"Bolton Wanderers watched from the stands at the Bangor Fuels Arena as Glenavon's teenage midfielder Mark Sykes produced another match-winning performance.
The English Championship club sent a scout to watch Glenavon take on Ards - and he couldn't fail to have been impressed by Sykes, who delivered an assist and a stunning solo goal in a 2-0 win.
Manager Gary Hamilton is well aware that professional clubs are keeping a close eye on his star man."
As a Northern Ireland youth international, Sykes certainly has a lot of experience for a player so young.
It would certainly be a coup for Wanderers to sign the talented midfielder, as only last month he was linked with Leicester City, Celtic FC and Blackburn Rovers.
Do you think Mark Sykes would be a good signing for Wanderers? Let us know in the comments box below.
