Was this the evening that Bolton Wanderers laid down a marker and staked their claim as potential winners of League One?
I think so.
For 80mins it was tawdry, boring, aimless nonsense, pitted with a familiar chorus of boos from impatient fans. The players and our play was almost as negative.
Some average performances mixed in with the dreadful, but then the magic happened. A Gary Madine header went somewhat towards the goal, and then someone, anyone, poked it over the line.
1-0.
Rochdale might complain about it (it would be the only noise that they made all night), but it was clearly over the line and was a good decision from the linesman.
So Bolton got out of jail - but that's not the end of it. Draws for rivals Sheffield United and Scunthorpe United has meant that we have finally begun to make ground on the leaders. With some huge games in the pipeline our momentum could be so important.
All in all a very enjoyable win, if not necessarily the most enjoyable game.
