Ratings: Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Northampton Town

That was a fantastic game to win

Ben Alnwick – 7

Played well. Wisely chose to punch rather than risk catching the high balls given the poor conditions.

Dorian Dervite – 7

Gave away the free kick for their goal which was a sloppy mistake. His distribution was weak but in general he made few mistakes and could, on another day, have scored.

David Wheater – 8

Really solid. Another who was a threat up front when in the attack, and I love his celebration after Matt Taylor handled the ball for our penalty.

Mark Beevers – 7

Struggled in the first half but recovered well and made some timely interceptions when the game was poised at 1-1.

Derik Osede – 7

It's fashionable to knock him at the moment, but I think that's a bit unfair. Was his usual tidy self on the ball playing on his own as a defensive shield. That said, we looked a bit more authoritative in possession when Spearing came on.

Andrew Taylor – 7

Attacked with gusto throughout. Our Steady Eddie was steady yet again.

Philip Morris – 8.5

Deserved his goal. Never stopped running, and was another who came on strong in the second half.

Darren Pratley – 7

Brought some much needed directness to midfield with his energy on the ball. Always a hair away from a hilarious stumble too. Welcome back.

Josh Vela – 7

I'd still rather he played a bit further forward, but he was tidy on the ball and kept a cool head when helping Andrew Taylor in the build-up to Morris' goal.

Adam Le Fondre – 9

MOTM for me, as you can see by clicking here, ALF ran his little socks off and was a constant thorn in the side of the Northampton defenders. Loved the way that he absolutely belted home his penalty as well. Won his fair share of aerial balls and I think his performance helped his strike partner. Bring it on.

Big Gary Madine – 8

Suits playing with a little man alongside him and turned in what could well have been his best performance for the club. That said, it would have been a perfect performance had he been more of a goal threat but we know that's not his game. Was very good in the air as well.

Subs

Jay Spearing – 7ish

Some snappy passing and well-timed blocks showed that despite him being out for a few games he hasn't missed a beat. Would expect him to come in for Derik on Tuesday.
