Tom W’s Player of the Year: David Wheater

The heart of our defence gets my vote...

Chinny Maldini himself gets my vote for POTY and here’s why, this was a player who the club had seemingly washed their hands of last summer, but at the very last moment Parkinson gave him a second chance and he has gone above and beyond what was expected of him.

“Why not Beevers?” you may ask, well in my opinion Beevers’ form has been more shaky than Wheater’s. When Beevers was outstanding, Wheater was great, when Beevers’ form dipped, Wheater was still great. I would like to give Beevers an honourable mention though however for being the yin to Wheater’s yang, if you will.

Wheater really has turned back the years this season and even if it's only just for this season; seeing him have a renaissance of sorts under Parksinson has been nothing short of heartwarming as it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
