Oh Christ.
Member a few weeks ago when we were flying, and the Port Vale party was seen as just that?
Well the day is almost here and most of us are absolutely bricking it.
Bolton Wanderers can seal promotion here, much as they could have sealed promotion at any point in the last three weeks. Except we didn't. We haven't choked yet, but we are starting to get that funny feeling in our throats.
Win, and promotion is virtually ours depending on results elsewhere.
Draw and things are still in our hands.
Lose and we are all necking bleach.
Port Vale are at the end of their fourth successive campaign at this level and it looks like it could well be their last. Currently occupying the final relegation slot in 21st place, their season of struggle could well be put to bed depending on tomorrow's result.
Managerial strife has cost them this season, with former Leeds United midfielder Bruno Ribeiro's ill-fated spell in charge costing them a good start and ultimately cursing them to a season of struggle.
Top scorer with 8 goals is Alex Jones, who was on loan from Birmingham City before making a move to Bradford City in the winter window. JJ Hooper and defender Remie Streete are the next highest scorers currently on the books, with 5 goals each.
Defending has been their struggle, conceding 68 goals to give a deficit of 24 in terms of goal difference.
They will be needing a win, which always concerns me when contemplating our opposition in a game, but Vale have only won one in seven, suffering four consecutive defeats before facing Bolton.
So, get your life savings on a draw.
COYWM. Do it for us. Do it for yourselves. Just do it.
