I don't know about you, but I haven't been able to go ten minutes without thinking about Bolton Wanderers this week. More specifically, the outcome of this Sunday's game against Peterborough.
If the result goes Wanderers' way, the fans will be in a joyous mood, and whether the club like it or not, the fans will more than likely invade the pitch. It'll be a day to remember.
It had me thinking of other times a certain goal or moment has seen Wanderers fans 'lose their sh*t'.
So here are five goals that I've seen live that I've celebrated like crazy.
1. Jay-Jay Okocha vs West Ham United, 2003
The definition of a six pointer. West Ham had the likes of Joe Cole and Jermain Defoe, and were 'too good to go down'. Whichever team won was going to be the one that had the chance of staying up. Of course, the 2-1 win against Middlesbrough sealed Wanderers' Premier League status, but the way Okocha mugged off Joe Cole, ran sixty yards and blasted it into the top corner was superb.
2. Les Ferdinand vs Manchester United, 2004
United were in their prime back in 2004. Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo and Rio Ferdinand. We were little ol' Bolton, still dreaming of qualifying for Europe. The game was 1-1 in the 90th minute when Tim Howard and a defender fluffed up, allowing Les Ferdinand the easiest of tap ins to send the Wanderers fans wild. Unfortunately, it wasn't a game winner, but it was brilliant while it lasted.
3. Jared Borgetti vs Lokomotiv Plovdiv, 2005
Wanderers were playing their first ever UEFA Cup game and it was a night to remember. Plovdiv had taken the lead, then proceeded to cheat and dive their way through the game. El-Hadji Diouf scored a second half equaliser with a bullet of a diving header, before Mexican international Jared Borgetti rifled the ball into the far corner in the 90th minute to ensure Wanderers won. Scenes.
4. Stuart Holden/Chris Eagles/Emile Heskey vs Blackburn, 2010/2013/2014
Who doesn't love a goal against Blackburn Rovers?
Holden's was special. Blackburn had just equalised, and then straight from kick off, Stuart Holden volleyed the ball into the corner to give Wanderers the win. The look on Big Sam's face was priceless.
Chris Eagles' too was brilliant. Wanderers were chasing the Play-Offs, and needed a win to push them closer. There was nothing in the game until the 90th minute, when a moment of brilliance from Eagles sealed the win. Cue mass celebration from the fans, including an Adebayor-esque celebration from Eagles.
Heskey's was special purely because of who scored it. I just remember laughing hysterically, sounded like a mixture of a hyena and the Joker. If you had told me Eidur Gudjohnsen would set up Emile Heskey for a Bolton goal, I would have told you to stop playing so much Football Manager.
5. David Wheater vs Port Vale, 2017
This one was only last Saturday, but it was almost really special. At the time, it was the goal that was going to confirm promotion. The Vale away end erupted. Some fans ran onto the pitch, others just went wild in the stands. Even though Fleetwood ruined it later in the day, it didn't take away from how special a moment it was.
