According to HITC Sport, Bolton Wanderers are leading the chase to sign former Mansfield Town striker Matt Green.

The article states:

"Bolton Wanderers are leading the race to sign former Mansfield Town striker Matt Green, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Green is a free agent after seeing out his contract at Mansfield with his current deal expiring this summer.

The 30-year-old scored 13 goals for Mansfield this season in League Two as they just missed out on the play-offs.

Overall Green scored 29 goals in 95 games in his second spell for the club after signing from Birmingham City on a free transfer in 2015.

Green is also weighing up an offer from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids with the Rapids keen to lure the former Cardiff man to America, but Bolton are hoping to win the race for his signature."

Matt Green has previously had spells in the Championship with Cardiff City and Birmingham City, but only scored once in 16 games.

Now 30, could Green make the grade two divisions higher? Who knows.

Would Green be a good signing? Let us know in the comments box below.
