According to HITC Sport, Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa are both eyeing up a move for Lincoln City midfielder Alex Woodyard. The article states:

"A number of Championship and League One clubs are weighing up a move for Lincoln City midfielder Alex Woodyard, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Woodyard has been a standout performer for Lincoln this season excelling in their run to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and also playing an instrumental role in the National league title success.

Aston Villa have been keeping tabs on Woodyard as they look to rebuild their squad after a disappointing campaign this term, while newly-promoted Bolton are keen to add him to their squad as they prepare for life back in the Championship.

League One duo Scunthorpe United and Northampton Town are also weighing up moves for Woodyard as they feel the former Charlton youngster would be a valuable addition to their squads for next season."

Who is Alex Woodyard? Well, the 24 year old midfielder is regarded as one of the best non-league talents. Woodyard scored once in 52 games as Lincoln gained promotion to the Football League.

For his efforts, Woodyard was crowned Lincoln's and The National League's player of the year.

In March, Woodyard signed a one year extension with Lincoln, keeping him at the club until 2018.

Wanderers have had success buying non-league players in the past, with the likes of Jason McAteer and Tony Caldwell becoming vital players.
