A Good Day to Bury Good News: Bolton Wanderers Re-Sign Dorian Dervite

Phil Parkinson has decided that Dorian Dervite is worthy of playing for Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.

Just let that sink in.

Now, whilst I - and everyone else - accepts that he was quite good for the last six games of last season, the memories of his 'performances' during the 2015/16 season are still fresh in the memory.

Dervite, unlike fellow underachiever Gary Madine, didn't have a full and successful 2016/17 season, meaning that any goodwill earned by the latter has not been shared with the former Spurs and Villarreal defender.

Whilst I can understand Parkinson wanting to fill his squad with options, the signing and re-signing of Dervite is a bit of a head-scratcher. Let's hope he's cheap and let's hope that his end-of-season form last time out is more indicative of what we will see going forward rather than the shambolic form he showed the year before that.

Here's hoping for some more positive news soon.
