As reported by HITC Sport, Bolton Wanderers are set to sign Newcastle United starlet Adam Armstrong on loan.
The article states:
“Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong is set to join Bolton Wanderers on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Newcastle confirmed Armstrong was set for another loan move away from the club next season after he was left out of the Magpies 27-man squad for their Ireland training camp.
A number of Football League clubs have expressed an interest in taking the prolific forward on loan, but Bolton have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal for the 20-year-old.”
Armstrong was linked with a loan move to Wanderers earlier in the window, but it was thought that Bolton would not be able to afford to pay the portion of his wages needed to sign him.
Armstrong has scored 26 career goals in 96 games, with his most prolific spell being a stint in League One with Coventry City in the 2015/2016 season.
Last season, Armstrong spent the season in The Championship on loan at Barnsley.
The youngster spent the summer with England’s U20 side, helping the team win the U20 World Cup.
Adam Armstrong, 20, would certainly be an interesting option for Wanderers. With plenty of experience in League One and The Championship, as well as international experience, Armstrong could be a shrewd loan signing.
