Two strong elevens faced Fylde either side of the break, this is how they did...
Mark Howard/Ben Alnwick - 8
Both 'keepers made some smart saves, neither made any mistakes and each did will with their distribution, kicking, handling and helping out the defence vocally, particularly the youngster Harry Brockbank, 8.
Mark Little/Stephen Darby - 8
Both unfamiliar with the role of wing back but neither put a foot wrong. Darby did better as the second half replacement, but Little was unfaultable at the same time, did well going forward, 8.
David Wheater/Dorian Dervite - 8
Both showed their experience and each played solidly and lead from the back when needed, 8.
Mark Beevers/Derik - 8
Again, neither player put a foot wrong, Derik did well on his return from injury, Beevers his usual solid self, 8.
Harry Brockbank/Trialist(Alex Bruce) - 7
Brockbank wasn't quite as impressive as on his previous appearances, but also did nothing wrong, just can't be warranted the same rating without scoring twice, lets be honest. Bruce's debut was very average, remains to be seen if he will be signed permanently, 7.
Chris Taylor/Andy Taylor - 7
Chris struggled with this role due to his unfamiliarity of wing back and hadn't played defensively at all previously, but did nothing wrong so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Andy did well when he came on as he made that position his own last season and has boosted this rating from a 6 to a 7. Despite Chris' less impressive performance, it doesn't warrant the abuse he received from the away end despite some encouragement implied amongst it, 7.
Alex Perry/Jem Karacan - 8
Both impressive despite n early wobble from Perry and a couple of misplaced passes but recovered well. Caravan his usual self, hope his injury isn't too bad. Difficult to rate Jack Earing as he was only on for the last ten, 8.
Darren Pratley/Josh Vela - 8
Solid, both did well as captains, Vela excellent going forward, Pratley helped it all tick, fitted their roles well, 8.
Jeff King/Will Buckley- 8.5
These roles both became more attacking as each half wore on, suited them well. Pace going forward helps us massively and is something we've missed in previous seasons. Buckley became a forward three and linked up well with Armstrong and Ameobi. King linked up well with Alfie and Madine first half too and has progressed well as a player throughout pre-season, hope to see him feature more, 8, borderline 9.
Gary Madine/Sammy Ameobi - 8
Madine fulfilled his usual role of target man very well, sone excellent knock downs, knock ons and hold up play, even a few good shots on target. Brilliant to have Ameobi back, never looked like losing the ball, so calm and collected and can spring on defences when they least expect it, still got a good shot on him, 8.
Alfie/Adam Armstrong - 8.5
Alfie partnered well with Madine but a frustrating evening in front of goal for him, still looked a threat though, needs another goal soon. Really impressed by Armstrong, my man of the match, looks like a natural striker, excellent first touch out of his feet, burst of pace and brilliant movement off the ball, even had the ball in the net at one point, unfortunately ruled out. Could do very well this season once he starts scoring, huge potential and I hope the move to the Macron works out for him, best of luck to him, 8.5
