News broke this morning that rumoured Bolton Wanderers transfer target Niall McGinn had left Aberdeen to join South Korean side Gwangju FC.
A Northern Ireland international, McGinn had been linked with a move to Wanderers ever since news of his impending Dons departure hit the internet earlier this summer.
A move for financial, rather than footballing reasons, McGinn will no doubt looking forward to testing his skills against the might of South Korean football rather than the lower end of the Championship with Wanderers. A few extra thousand a week should soften the blow.
So where does this leave Wanderers?
With Alex Samizadeh heading to Scotland, we have Gary Madine and Adam Le Fondre as our two main strikers with the season just four weeks away. Can the two score the goals that we need to survive in shark-filled Championship waters?
I think we all agree that reinforcements are needed, whilst waving sadly at Niall McGinn sailing away in the distance and wondering what might have been.
