Son of legendary goalkeeper Jussi, William had been with Wanderers' academy for many years, but never made the step up into the first team.
The Finnish U21 international has signed a one year deal with League Two side Crewe, who Wanderers coincidentally beat 2-1 in the League Cup last week.
With Jake Turner jumping ahead of Jääskeläinen in the goalkeeping queue, it was inevitable that he would be released.
William now has opportunity to step up and make the grade in the league football with Crewe, and will be trained by legendary former Bolton Wanderers coach Fred Barber. Barber of course was the goalkeeping coach during the Sam Allardyce years, and was an important mentor to Jussi.
William has been given the number 26 shirt.
I'm sure my fellow LOV writers will join me on wishing Jääskeläinen all the best with his new club.
