After a three game unbeaten run on the road, Bolton Wanderers return to The Macron to face Gary Rowett’s Derby County. Looking for their first league win of the season, Wanderers will be coming up against a Derby side still adjusting to life without key players Will Hughes and Tom Ince, both of whom were sold to Watford Fc and Huddersfield Town respectively. Derby were the team that confirmed Wanderers’ relegation to League One eighteen months ago, so you’d think The Whites would be ready for redemption.
Wanderers have only lost one of their last five meetings against Derby at home, with the last game ending 0-0 back at the start of the 2015/2016 season. A win for Bolton could see them return to the top half of the Championship table for the first time in years.
Team News
David Wheater is edging closer to a return, but this weekend is probably too soon. It’s been confirmed that Josh Vela will sadly be out for at least two months, having suffered ankle ligament damage against Leeds United. Sammy Ameobi remains sidelined with a knee injury.
For Derby, George Thorne and Jason Shackell are almost ready to return to first team action. Craig Forsyth could return after being rested against Preston North End. After signing for £7 million from Leicester City, forward Tom Lawrence is more than likely going to make his debut.
