Week two of the FPL.

123 was the total to beat this week. Spearheaded by triple captained Paul Pogba, with Marcas Alonso, Eric Bailly and Chicharito also hitting double figures.

Pogba was discussed last week and is continuing to indicate he could be the must have midfielder this season. Also in the midfield was Sadio Mane and Christian Eriksen who also gained respectable scores and are looking like good bets in the early stages of the season.

Former Bolton defender Alonso showed why he will set you back so much with two goals at Wembley. Who would have thought he would turn out like this hey? Bailly is looking like a good bet early doors with two clean sheets and a goal so far this season. The Manchester United defence may well be the one you need to have exposure to this season now that Nemanja Matic is shielding them.

Southampton v West Ham United - Premier League

Then up top West Ham United’s Chicharito could well be a good mid range option at £7 million. He is a classic poacher with all of his Premier League goals coming from inside the box. I suspect he will keep scoring, but do remain unconvinced by West Ham.

Moving into the LOVS league lorrysnomore gained the highest score this week with 75. They also had Pogba, Chicharito and Bailly forming a solid spine to the team. This was backed up by Wayne Rooney, Nathan Redmond and Danny Simpson.

Manchester City v Everton - Premier League

Rooney is clearly enjoying life back on Merseyside with two goals in two games. The addition of Gylfi Sigurdsson will add to their attacking options, though may affect where Rooney is deployed and therefore his return going forward.

Redmond and Simpson both look like good cheaper options in their respective positions.

Burnley v West Bromwich Albion - Premier League

The other end of the spectrum saw WashingMachine pick up 18 points.

On a disappointing week only captain Roberto Firmino gained more than 2 points. The other Liverpool player in the team, Emre Can, didn’t even score a point. Frustratingly though Ben Foster was kept on the bench and kept a clean sheet, which was enough to make him the highest scorer in the squad.

This is a team which may well need a wildcard being used early on!
