Transfer Gossip: Preston Looking at Bolton Wanderers Forward Gary Madine

New appliance, sir?

According to popular internet rumour tonight, Bolton Wanderers forward and main hope of avoiding relegation Gary Madine is being linked with a move to fellow Championship outfit Preston North End.

The rumour mill believes that PNE are looking to Madine to bolster their own forward line and thusly their own chances of remaining in the division - something that we would be losing immediately should he be sold.

Having just signed a new two year contract in the summer, Madine would command a fee, but realistically, what could we be looking at for someone of his pedigree? Quarter of a million? Three hundred grand? Surely he’s worth more to us than to have the cash in the bank.

In what would be tantamount to admitting that we don’t want to stay in the division, this move simply cannot be allowed to happen, regardless of our financial situation. We do not have the manpower to sacrifice Madine, it would be stupidity of the highest order.

Phil, Ken - don’t do it. Just don’t.
