According to a story in The Sun this morning, Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in Bolton Wanderers’ goalkeeping starlet, Jake Turner.
It’s thought that Spurs have sent scouts to watch Turner in his last two games.
Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino have earned a reputation as a great team that gives English youth a chance. The likes of Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Ali have transformed into three of the best players in the Premier League under the guidance of Pochettino.
With Michel Vorm’s contract up at the end of the season, Spurs may look at Turner as the eventual successor to Hugo Lloris.
It would be some blow to Wanderers if Jake Turner were to leave. The young goalkeeper is seen as perhaps the clubs best youth prospect, having already played for England’s U18 side.
It was reiterated only the other week that despite rumours linking Turner with moves to Manchester United and Everton, no bids have actually been submitted.
Again, this is purely speculation.
Let’s hope Jake Turner can kick on this season and make his debut for the first team.
