It’s chucking it down in August which means that football is well and truly back. Bolton Wanderers have made the short journey south to Crewe Alexandra tonight for the first round of the newly monikered Carabao Cup - that’s the League Cup to you and me.

An opening day defeat at home to Leeds United was disappointing, but there was plenty of hope and promise from a spirited performance. But tonight is a chance to get a first victory of the campaign against our League Two opponents.

I think Phil Parkinson may have turned to a four at the back, with Stephen Darby potentially in a holding role in midfield. There’s a debut up front for new man Aaron Wilbraham, while Will Buckley and Adam Armstrong make full debuts alongside youngster Jack Earing.

Here are tonight’s starting lineups. You can follow all the action from Gresty Road in the Comments section below, so please do let us know your thoughts on the game and our season generally.
