Bolton Wanderers lost 3-0 to relegation rivals Brentford in a match that highlighted their fragile confidence and defensive ineptitude.
Before the game I had hoped we might finally be able to end our duck in the league against a team in and around us and after the first 20 minutes my optimism appeared justified.
Gary Madine hit the post and both Antonee Robinson and mark little looked lively.
However, substitute Yoan Barbet ended all hope with a stunning free-kick late on in the half and from then on it was Brentford vs Ben Alnwick who was in inspired form.
The second half performance was appalling and culminated in 2 further Brentford goals: a stunning strike from Nico Yennaris and the very impressive Ollie Watkins.
The final score of 3-0 didn't flatter the Bees at all.
All in all there are zero positives out of the game for me. Had Madine scored we might have had a chance but the way we just collapsed after the first goal was embarrassing. Robinson made me lose my head at one point due to his insistence that Josh Clarke didn't exist therefore he didn't need to mark him.
Had the chances fallen to Watkins the score could have been double figures.
Some fans will call for Parky's head after this but the blame has to be laid at the players feet for me. They gave up and that is unacceptable.
