Bolton Wanderers missed the opportunity to go three points clear of the relegation places, after conceding a late equaliser at home against Ipswich Town.
Here are my player ratings:
Ben Alnwick - 7
Didn’t have a lot to do, made one superb save in the first half to stop Luke Chambers scoring. Could do nothing about the goal, sadly.
Mark Little - 6.5
Solid as usual in defence, but got caught out by McGoldrick for the equaliser. A little (if you pardon the pun) more reserved going forward earlier on, but was back to normal in the second half.
Dorian Dervite - 7
A surprise inclusion, filling in for Mark Beevers who was ill. For his first game in four months, Dervite was on form, with one excellent tackle stopping Waghorn early in the second half. Could have done better for the equaliser.
David Wheater - 6.5
Solid throughout, as ever, up until the equaliser. Same as Dervite, could have done better.
Antonee Robinson - 7.5
Everton really do have a player. Excellent going forward, as proved by the fantastic cross for Madine’s goal. Improving weekly defensively.
Derik - 6
Doesn’t offer the boundless energy that Darren Pratley does. Lost the ball a couple of times with some misplaced passes, but improved from Brentford in my opinion.
Karl Henry - 6.5
A welcome return to the side, though did look a bit fatigued as the game dragged on.
Sammy Ameobi - 6
Maybe it was the early blow to the head, but Sammy didn’t have the best of games. Always looks like he could threaten, but didn’t show that enough on Saturday. Might benefit from the week off.
Josh Vela - 6
For me, Vela wasn’t as bad as some fans have made out on twitter. Could/should have done better with the chance ten seconds into the game. Did well to flick Robinson’s cross into the path of Madine for the goal.
Will Buckley - 6.5
Pretty solid performance from Buckley. One of the better performers in the first half.
Gary Madine - 7.5
A typical Madine performance. Threw himself about, and was rewarded with a goal for his efforts. Very unlucky not to score another, with a header striking the post and his free kick being saved wonderfully by Bialkowski.
Subs
Filipe Morais - 6.5
Great cross towards Madine, who was unlucky to hit the post with a header. Could have sealed the game with a great effort from just outside the box. Might have been better to take off Ameobi instead of Buckley and have Morais crossing it from the right wing.
Craig Noone and Aaron Wilbraham - N/A
Both Noone and Wilbraham came on too late to make an impact.
