Eh?

Now this, I’m struggling to believe. According to reports from Italian site Calciomercato.it, SS Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti is close to joining Bolton Wanderers.

Calciomercato states:

“The extreme defender biancoceleste, according to rumors gathered by Calciomercato.it , would be one step away from Bolton , a team that plays in the Championship . On the expiry of the contract next June , Marchetti had finished on the margins of the biancocelesti squad since last year, no longer falling within the company’s plans.”

Why i’m struggling to believe this? Well, Marchetti has been linked to Juventus recently. Also, AC Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool have been touted as previous destinations in the past couple of years.

So who is Federico Marchetti?

Well, the 34 year old goalkeeper has played his entire career in Italy, most notably for Cagliari and Lazio.

Marchetti has been AWOL this season, and hasn’t played at all for Lazio. Since joining the side in 2011, Marchetti has played 194 games in the Italian capital.

Federico Marchetti is also an Italian international, having played eleven times between 2009 and 2011.

Marchetti’s Lazio contract expires in the Summer.

Bolton already have Mark Howard, Ben Alnwick and Jake Turner, so do they need another goalkeeper?

So, if for some reason this actually happens, do you think Federico Marchetti would be a good signing for Wanderers? Let us know in the comments box below.
