The Josh Vela rumours continue.
This time, the Bolton Wanderers midfielder has been linked with a move to relegation rivals, Sunderland.
The rumour has come from The Daily Mail, who said this:
“Sunderland have joined the clubs to show an interest in Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela.
The 24-year-old could be sold by Bolton this window as they look to raise much-needed funds.
Derby County, Leeds United and Brighton have also been monitoring Vela in recent weeks.”
Obviously, it’s all gossip until an actual bid comes in for Vela. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
Like I’ve put on all these Vela rumours, losing Josh Vela would be a huge blow to Wanderers. Vela, alongside players like Sammy Ameobi and Karl Henry, have helped turn around Wanderers’ poor form at the start of the season.
Vela also got his first goal of the season last month in the 2-0 win against Cardiff City.
Obviously, Wanderers don’t have millions to spend on new players in January, so the club have had to sell other key players to help run the club.
Rob Holding and Zach Clough have previously been sold to Arsenal and Nottingham Forestrespectively for figures in the region of £2 to £3 million.
Let’s hope this is nothing more than gossip and Wanderers can keep hold of Vela.
It was only recently that The Sun reported the club had put an asking price of £3.5 million on Vela.
Is £3.5 million enough for one of our key players? Let us know in the comments box below.
