Mark Beevers has struggled at Championship level for Bolton Wanderers on many occasions, but he was a key man at the New Den.
Beevers chipped in with the all important goal to cerment Bolton’s dominance during the opening stages of the game. It looks to be a well taken goal with a good run into the box to find himself in acres of space. It took an age to hit the back of the net, tantalising those of us at the other end of the stadium.
In a game where Bolton seemingly did everything possible to not comite men forward, it was good to see a centre back stay up for the second opportunity.
At the other end Beevers was critical to Wanderers going in 1-0 up at the break. Millwall’s first shot was saved by Ben Alnwick before the second was blocked. A third was heading for the roof of the net only for Beevers to raise up in all his glory to head the ball wide. It was a critcal moment as Millwall were building towards a first half equaliser.
Beevers was likely amongst those at fault for the goal, but frankly so were the rest of them.
