It’s a Lancashire hot-pot of a derby, except the pot is way off the boil

Bolton Wanderers welcome local rivals Wigan Athletic to the UniBol this afternoon in dire need of a well overdue three points.

The Whites are without a win in more than two months, have only managed one goal in the last six matches and just three goals in the last 12. It is, simply put, a horrific run of form.

The good news is that we have a decent record against Wigan, having only lost two of the last 14 matches against them. However, they should be on a high having won another Lancashire derby against Blackburn Rovers in midweek.

Phil Parkinson changes things up, just for a change, as Christian Doidge comes into the side, with an unusual looking trio in support of Craig Noone, Sammy Ameobi and Will Buckley. My bet would be on Ameobi being handed a free role in behind Doidge.

Wigan line up in what looks like a 4-5-1 with Will Grigg leading the line, so expect him to be on fire. They also have James Vaughan and Bolton’s summer target Joe Garner waiting on the bench.

Here are today’s starting lineups, and you can follow all the action in the Comments section below and via our Twitter feed.
