Bolton Wanderers win a game of football for the first time since September. That is 13 games and 88 days since our epic win over Frank Lampard’s Derby County. What a time to be alive!

Rotherham started and ended the game strongest and were probably better in between too. Bolton took the lead through Sammy Ameobi who drove home from near the edge of the box. That lead would only last three minutes in classically Bolton style. Rotherham hit back from close range as we conspired to make Jamie Proctor look like a good footballer.

From then on we continued to struggle to get back ahead, but were finally able to with Gary O’Neil of all people turning the ball home. At that point it was time to trim your nails as Rotherham laid siege to the Bolton box. We held on to claim a vital victory as we look to salvage our season.

This result still leaves Bolton in the drop zone, one point behind Rotherham United and Millwall. There is a gap opening up above those teams meaning now is the perfect time to put some results together and stay in touch. It is all important that we do that now and that this is not another false dawn.

Next up is Stoke City at home befor Hull City away. Stoke lost to Birmingham City today though remain in mid table. Hull won away at Preston North End to keep themselves above the pack of teams looking to escape the relegation fight. Neither game will be easy, but results now are imperative so as not to get cut adrift.
