Sunderland travel to The Macron Stadium tonight to take on Bolton Wanderers.

Wanderers have hit a bit of a rut recently, having lost twice on the road in the last week.

Thankfully, other results have been kind to Bolton, so the club only dropped one place to 20th in the table, with Birmingham jumping above on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Chris Coleman’s side sit 23rd. Many of their fans are resigned to relegation, but who knows what could happen if they get a win tonight.

It’s safe to say, that tonight is by far and away the biggest game of the season for both teams.

A win for Bolton could see them go as high as 18th in the table, five points clear of the relegation places.

A decade ago, Wanderers beat Sunderland to secure their place in the Premier League. Now, with both sides teetering towards League One, a win could once again prove vital in the race to stay up.

It’s not going to be pretty, but a win would mean everything.

Team News

Darren Pratley is likely to return for Wanderers, with Josh Vela out injured for an extended period with ankle ligament damage. Mark Little starts his three match suspension tonight, so either Filipe Morais or Jon Flanagan will replace him.

For Sunderland, Lamine Kone and Paddy McNair could feature.
