As reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Bolton Wanderers are interested in a move for former Sunderland and Bayern Munich defensive midfielder, Jan Kirchhoff.

Jan Kirchhoff, 27, has been a free agent since leaving Sunderland at the end of last season after their relegation to The Championship.

Kirchhoff began his career with Mainz, before moving on to sign for German giants Bayern Munich in 2013. With two Bundesliga titles under his belt, Kirchhoff was snapped up by Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce in January 2016.

Initially playing as a centre half, Kirchhoff played a key role in Sunderland’s survival playing as a defensive midfielder. Injury problems plagued his time at Sunderland though.

Kirchhoff was in attendance at the game last night watching his former side, as well as his new side? We’ll wait and see.

Would Jan Kirchhoff be a good signing for Wanderers? Let us know in the comments box below.
