Bolton Wanderers are set to face Fulham Fc this Saturday at The Macron Stadium. A win for Wanderers would see them push further away from the relegation places, as they try to stay in The Championship.

40 years ago this coming April, things were completely different.

The 1977/1978 season ended on 29th April 1978, with Bolton Wanderers facing Fulham at Burnden Park.

By that point, Wanderers had already been promoted to Division One, and a point would be enough to seal the Division Two Championship.

As the older generation of Wanderers fans already know, Bolton did get a point against The Cottagers, and were promoted to the top flight as Champions.

To commemorate it being 40 years since, I made a video of the story of how the Bolton Wanderers side of the 1970’s were finally promoted back to the top flight.

Apologies, the first twenty seconds is shaky. Can’t do anything about it.

If videos like this are something LOV should do more often, let us know in the comments box below.
