As revealed by Bolton Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson, former Arsenal and Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh has failed to impress in a recent trial with the club.

Anderson stated in his pre-match Chairman notes:

“We have had a number of trialists at the club in recent weeks, with both Marouane Chamakh and Jean-Philippe Mendy being given the opportunity to prove their worth. Unfortunately however, we had to take the decision to not pursue with deals for them as we believed that it would take time for them to be ready to fight for a first team place and we need players who are ready to be thrown into the mix and hit the ground running.”

34 year old Moroccan international Chamakh has been without a club since leaving Cardiff City in December 2016. Jean-Philippe Mendy, the 30 year old nomad French striker, also failed to impress.

There are still some decent free agents available, but wage demands and the readiness of the player limit Wanderers’ options.

Are there any free agents you think Wanderers should pursue? Let us know in the comments box below.
