Central back Mitchell has been handed a call up by new manager Fritz Schmid, as he rests several New Zealand regulars.
Mitchell, a 21 year old centre half, has been a mainstay in David Lee’s U23 side this year, contributing to their fine form.
Adam Mitchell has had a varied career. Born in Croatia, he started with New Zealand side Wanderers Special Club in 2013, before moving on to play for WaiBOP United in 2015.
Mitchell then moved to Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade in 2016, but failed to make an appearance.
A brief stint in Slovenia with NK Celje followed, before Mitchell was handed a trial alongside Julio Baptista at Wanderers in September.
Mitchell has also played nine times for New Zealand’s U20 side.
After previously earning two call ups without playing, Mitchell could finally make his debut for New Zealand against Canada on 25th March.
