Immediate Reaction: Leeds United 2-1 Bolton Wanderers

An out of sort Leeds picked up their first win ever against Bolton, obviously.

Typical Bolton Wanderers really isn’t it. Travelling to a team who haven’t won a game since time immemorial and losing 2-1.

Uncharacteristically bad Wanderers defending allowed Leeds to take the lead after less than five minutes. I say uncharacteristic but in my view Bolton got away with a bit against Aston Villa, which I guess just shows that these things even out.

The next 45 minutes were fairly uneventful before Leeds doubled their lead just after the break and Adam Le Fondre then pulled one back quickly afterwards. Bolton immediately threatened to equalise but then fizzled out.

For me Zach Clough should have been brought on earlier to give him an opportunity to affect the game and Aaron Wilbraham continues to frustrate me. It would also seem that Bolton desperately need one or both of Karl Henry and Darren Pratley back in contention to sure up the midfield.

Losing an away game with our form away from the Macron shouldn’t be a source of panic. But it does bring Tuesday’s game against Birmingham City into sharper focus, a win quite simply is a must.
