How did Wanderers do at The Madejski?

Bolton Wanderers have moved five points clear of the relegation places, after coming from behind to draw 1-1 against Reading at The Madejski Stadium.

As promised, Phil Parkinson made several changes to the side that collapsed against Preston on the weekend. Liverpool loanee Jon Flanagan and Jan Kirchhoff were brought in for their first starts, whilst Karl Henry, Reece Burke, Will Buckley, Andrew Taylor and Adam Le Fondre all returned to the starting XI.

So how did the new look Wanderers do? Here are my player ratings:

Ben Alnwick - 6.5

Was hardly troubled, but was his assured self when called upon. Might have done better with Barrow’s shot on another day.

Jon Flanagan - 6.5

The Liverpool loanee was handed his first start and impressed. Improved as the game went on, after being beaten by Barrow down the wing for the goal.

Reece Burke - 6.5

Wasn’t too busy, but assured when needed. Like Flanagan, could have defended better for the goal. Solid performance.

Mark Beevers - 7

Like the other defenders, wasn’t too busy, but solid when called upon.

Andrew Taylor - 7

Good performance on his return to the side. Kept Sone Aluko relatively quiet.

Jan Kirchhoff - 7.5

The definition of composed. Impressed on his first start before being replaced by Karacan in the second half.

Karl Henry - 7

A welcome return to the side after missing the last two games through suspension. Solid as ever.

Darren Pratley - 7.5

Impressed in a more advanced role. Linked up well with Adam Le Fondre, and worked well in a midfield three with Kirchhoff and Henry.

Will Buckley - 6.5

Solid performance on his return to the side. Should have done much better with a chance in the first half.

Filipe Morais - 6.5

Great cross in for the equaliser. Decent overall performance

Adam Le Fondre - 8

Man of the match. Was in the right place to bundle home the equaliser, but could have scored more. Chased everything, definitely proved a point against his former side.

Subs

Craig Noone - 6

Decent return to the side. Wasn’t afraid to run at Reading’s defence, put in a couple of decent set pieces.

Jem Karacan - 6

Solid performance against his former side after coming on for Kirchhoff.

Aaron Wilbraham - N/A

Won a couple of headers.
