Immediate Reaction: Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Birmingham City

Hello darkness my old friend.

The biggest game of the season. Needed a win and must not lose, under no circumstances can we lose. What do Bolton Wanderers do, well lose obviously that did you think? Hahaha oh dear God what now?

Bolton will blame the ref for not handing out penalties for some blatant hand balls. But the bottom line is we created far too few clear opportunities and had far too few attempts on goal to expect to get anything out of the game. Out of a game at home against Birmingham City who have spent almost as long in the bottom three this season as Bolton. A Birmingham side who played the last 20 minutes with 10 men. This is the Burton Albion game all over again and another serious missed opportunity.

Rather than boosting our survival chances we have given one of our rivals a massive boost by handing them a third successive win and allowing them to draw level on points. One team is on the up while another is stuttering.

Phil Parkinson has some serious work to do now. Derby County away followed by Millwall at home are hugely difficult games but after slipping up tonight and against Leeds United we simply have to get something from at least one. Then comes Barnsley, a game which now hits a new stratosphere of must win following today’s events.
