Following on from the disappointing 0-1 home defeat to relegation rivals Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers are back on the road to face Derby County.

Fifth place Derby will see the game as a great opportunity to further secure a play-off spot, as Bristol City, Millwall and Sheffield United are lurking just three points behind.

Wanderers could really do with an away win to push away from the bottom three.

As you may remember, Wanderers’ relegation to League One was confirmed after a heavy 4-1 defeat against Derby two years ago. Having not won in Derby for nearly 37 years, it would be a great time to break that record, avenge the memories of two years ago and go one step closer to safety.

The Rams are winless in four home games, losing the last two. Wanderers have picked up four wins and a draw in their last seven games against top half teams. Although, Bolton have lost four of the last five between the two sides.

Team News

Sadly, Wanderers go to Derby without the BFG Jan Kirchhoff and Captain Darren Pratley. Karl Henry should be alright to play, whilst Chinedu Obasi could finally make his debut after not being in the U23s squad on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Derby could be without Bradley Johnson, Ikechi Anya and Marcus Olsson.

Odds

Unsurprisingly, Derby are the odds for the win at 8/13. It’s 5/1 for Wanderers to win, whilst a draw is 13/5.

Match Prediction

Both teams need the points for different reasons. But Wanderers’ away record is just so poor. 2-0 Derby.
