Transfer Gossip: Bolton Wanderers reportedly interested in SM Cean player

A rumour from abroad

According to the French publication L’Equipe, Bolton Wanderers have registered an interested in SM Caen player, Vincent Bessat.

L’Equipe interviewed Bessat earlier in the week, asking:

You are at the end of the contract in Caen and several clubs have recently learned about you (Toulouse, Bolton, PAOK Salonika). What are you planning to do ?

Bessat replied:

“My family and I feel very good in Caen but, for the moment, I have no news. For several years, I have been tempted by an experience abroad to discover another way to see football and another culture of life too. We will see in the next days.”

Predominantly a left back, 32 year old Bessat is capable of playing in any position on the left side.

Bessat has so far spent the whole of his career in his homeland France, starting with Toulouse before moving to play for Louhans-Cuiseaux, Metz, Boulogne, Nantes and Caen.

In three years with Cean, Bessat has played 100 games, scoring once.

Bessat’s deal with Cean is coming to an end, but will he be on his way to Bolton? I’m going to say it’s unlikely.

It’s widely known that Phil Parkinson wants to build a younger side and Bessat is approaching his mid-thirties.

Bessat has also never played in The Championship & as we’ve seen with several foreign players in recent years, it may take a while for him to adapt to the style of English football.

Anyway, do you think Vincent Bessat would be a good signing for Wanderers? Let us know in the comments box below.
