So who is Ryan Yates?
Well, the 20 year old midfielder began his career with Forest and has had several loan spells at non-league and Football League level.
First he moved to non-league Barrow in 2016, and has since been loaned to Shrewsbury Town, Notts County and Scunthorpe United.
Last season was hugely successful for Yates. He impressed whilst on loan at Meadow Lane, County boss and Wanderers legend Kevin Nolan was full of praise for Yates, stating:
“I see him as a future captain whether it be here or any club he plays.
“He’s got a lot of good attributes that I can help him with to get better.”
Yates scored 3 goals in 25 games for Notts County before moving on to sign for Scunthorpe in January.
Yates impressed again whilst at Glanford Park and quickly became a fan favourite, scoring twice in eighteen appearances.
Predominantly a central midfielder, Yates can also play out wide.
It’s thought that Scunthorpe want Yates to return on loan, but if Wanderers’ interest is genuine, then Forest may feel that the youngster is ready for the step up to Championship football.
That being said, Wanderers might have a tricky relationship with Forest after signing both Tyler Walker and Zach Clough on loan in January and hardly playing them.
Anyway, do you think Ryan Yates would be a good signing for Wanderers? Let us know in the comments box below.
