Well now...
Huge pinch of salt with this one, but according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Bolton Wanderers are interested in former Everton, Manchester City and Sunderland midfielder, Jack Rodwell.
The article from The Sun states:
“BOLTON are in talks with Jack Rodwell about joining them after his disastrous spell at Sunderland.
Boss Phil Parkinson hopes to tempt Rodwell to Wanderers but he will have to take a cut on his huge salary. He was earning £73,000-a-week but that figure was reduced to £44,000 after the club’s relegation to League One at the end of last season.”
Still only 27 (surprisingly), Rodwell was once a promising English talent when he started his career at Everton. Rodwell earned praise for his performances, even making his debut for England whilst playing for The Toffees.
A big move to Manchester City followed in 2012, but after only 25 appearances in two years, Rodwell moved to Sunderland for £10 million. His career has fully stagnated, and has become synonymous with Sunderland’s demise to League One.
Playing just 76 games for Sunderland in four years, Rodwell is a player with so much wasted talent.
Recently dubbed the worst signing in Sunderland’s history, Rodwell would be a huge gamble for Wanderers to take, both financially and attitude wise.
Anyway, do you think Jack Rodwell would be worth the gamble? Let us know in the comments box below.
