Bolton Wanderers have today confirmed the first of their upcoming pre-season friendly matches.

They will be travelling away to Morecambe’s Globe Arena for a match against the Shrimps on Tuesday 17th July at 7.45pm. In a season similar to Bolton’s the Shrimps struggled this year in League 2, finishing just ahead on Barnet on goal difference to stay up on the last day of the season. They will be looking to make a strong start to the campaign this year.

Incidentally, Bolton and Morecambe last met in a pre-season friendly back in July 2015, with Morecambe winning that game 2-1, following goals from Aaron Wildig and Paul Mullin. Scoring for Bolton on that July evening was club legend Steven Dobbie after an assist by Neil Danns, but lets not relive the nightmare that was Bolton’s 2015/16 season.

It is expected that further friendly fixtures will be revealed shortly ahead of the start of the new Sky Bet Championship season. This news comes today after it was also announced by the club that they intend to request for the opening game of the season to be played away from home. This is so not to clash with the Rugby League Challenge Cup semi-finals taking place at the Macron Stadium on August 5th.
