Huge pinch of salt with this one, like the biggest pinch of salt you’ve ever seen.

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Jorge Mendes, one of the most influential football agents in the world, is helping with a takeover of our beloved Bolton Wanderers.

The 52 year old agent of Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly helping a mystery client make a bid to buy us.

It’s clear to see that if Wanderers want to be successful in the long run and not succumb to relegation battles, then investment is needed.

Bolton are already in a position to purchase a new striker, which is great, but have so far relied on free transfers to bolster the squad.

Mendes has been hugely influential in Wolves’ rise to the Premier League, helping them sign a wealth of Portuguese talent.

Ken Anderson has previously stated in his Chairman Notes:

“It is no secret that we are being approached all the time by parties looking to invest in the club and I have always made it clear that if anything does happen in this regard then it will only be done if it’s in the best long-term interests for Bolton Wanderers. We have held and are continuing to have talks with interested parties. Our supporters will be among the first to know should anything happen.”

If reports are to be believed, it’s not stated whether the party being guided by Mendes is new or have been in discussions with the club previously. Either way, it’s going to cost £25 million for them to takeover.

So what do you think - are we the next Wolves? Or are these just more rumours or more tyre kickers? Let us know in the comments box below.
