Transfer Gossip: Bolton Wanderers reportedly keen on Sheffield Wednesday player

Another day, another rumour

As reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon on twitter, Bolton Wanderers are interested in a move for Sheffield Wednesday defender, Liam Palmer.

Nixon also reports that Wanderers are close to signing a foreign winger on a free.

Liam Palmer, 26, has been at Sheffield Wednesday his entire career, aside from a loan spell with Tranmere Rovers in 2013. Palmer has plenty of experience playing in the Football League, with over 200 appearances to his name.

During his time with The Owls, Palmer helped the club gain promotion to the Championship in 2012. Palmer was also crowned Wednesday’s Player of the Year for the 2013/2014 season.

Predominantly a right back, Palmer can also fill in at centre midfield, which is a position Wanderers actually need players in.

I’m assuming Wanderers would want to take Palmer on loan, unless Wednesday would be willing to let him go for free.

Palmer was linked with Wanderers almost a year ago. Whether Wanderers will make a move for him this time remains to be seen.

Nixon also reported this morning that Wanderers’ highest earner, Ben Amos, is being eyed by Ipswich Town as a potential replacement for Bartosz Bialkowski, who has been linked with a £3 million move to Birmingham City.

So, what do you think? Would Liam Palmer be a good signing for Wanderers? Who do you think the foreign winger is? Is it Chungy? Let us know in the comments box below.
