According to reports on twitter from France, Bolton Wanderers are close to the signing of Senegalese international left back, Cheikh M’Bengué.

Get French football news reported:

“Championship side Bolton are set to sign 30-year-old full-back Cheikh M’Bengué on a free transfer from St Étienne, according to the well-informed Mohamed Toubache. The player has agreed a mutual contract termination package that gives him a minor pay-off, and is shortly expected to start an adventure in the Championship.”

So who is Cheikh M’Bengué? Well, the 30 year former French youth international had spent his entire career in France, starting with Toulouse.

M'Bengue played 159 times between 2007 and 2013, before moving to Rennes. After three years playing for the Brittany side, the left back moved to St Etienne in 2016.

If reports are to be believed, M’Bengue would be a free agent. He’s got plenty of experience in the French top flight, but who knows how he’d handle the Championship.

Do you think Cheikh M’Bengué would be a good signing for Wanderers? Let us know in the comments box below.
