As revealed by Football Insider on Tuesday, Bolton Wanderers have beaten several Championship teams to sign highly rated Everton youngster, Joe Williams, on loan.
Now, the Liverpool Echo have published more information on the deal.
They’ve stated:
“Everton have insisted on a recall option in the deal which will see Joe Williams move to Bolton Wanderers on loan. The Blues midfielder has been weighing up offers from a host of Championship clubs this week but has decided to join Bolton for the season. But in a sign of how highly rated the 21-year-old is at Goodison, Everton have the option to recall Williams.
Hull, Birmingham and Bristol City were all chasing Williams who spent last season on loan at Barnsley but Bolton, who had manager Phil Parkinson in the stands at Goodison on Monday as Williams played for the under-23s, have won the race the ECHO understands.”
Norwich included a similar clause in the loan deal for Yanic Wildschut.
The highly rated youngster, who was on loan at Barnsley last season, could be seen as quite a coup for Wanderers.
Central midfielder Williams played 38 times for Barnsley last season, impressing in a relegated side.
For Wanderers to beat several teams to his signature can only be seen as a good thing.
All Bolton need now is a replacement for ALF before the deadline next week.
