According to TeamTalk, Bolton Wanderers have been linked with a loan move for highly rated Middlesbrough youngster, Marcus Tavernier.
Although, according to TeamTalk, Portsmouth lead the chase. They state:
“Portsmouth are leading the chase to land highly-rated Middlesbrough starlet Marcus Tavernier, we can reveal. The 19-year-old is set to be allowed to leave Boro on-loan in the coming days, despite the club thinking very highly of him.
A number of Championship clubs such as Birmingham, Bolton and Ipswich had shown an interest in the teenager, who has been capped by England’s Under-19s. However, Kenny Jackett has been pushing hard to land Tavernier – who spent part of last season with Milton Keynes Dons – and Pompey are now in pole position to land the left winger and brother of Rangers captain James Tavernier.”
Capable of playing out wide or as a defensive midfielder, Tavernier has played four times for Boro so far this season.
With Portsmouth signing Andre Green on loan (who was linked to Bolton yesterday) & Wanderers having a plethora of wingers, Tavernier may just stay at Boro.
This could just be an old interest that has just come to the attention of the media.
No doubting that Bolton need to sign a striker before Friday, but we have enough wide men and have just signed Joe Williams last week on loan from Everton.
